Acton Trussell had more than a passing interest in the 1970 FA Trophy
Match at Wembley, when Telford United met Macclesfield Town.
After all, the Telford manager was Ron Flowers, who had recently moved into the village with his wife Yvonne and their sons Glen, 10, and Neil, 5.

The Wembley visit was a return one for Ron, who gained a winners' medal playing for the Wolves in the FA Cup Final of 1960, winning 3-0 against Blackburn Rovers. He was also part of the England squad who lifted the World Cup at Wembley six years later.

Alas, Telford United lost 2-0 but returned to Wembley the following year and won a decisive 3-2 victory against Hillingdon Borough.

Ron, whose Stafford-born grandson Harry has recently signed for Burnley, is pictured toasting their success with wife Yvonne.
